The Emmaus Road Show is produced by Bible Ventures. Head Office at 33 Wilstone Drive, St Albans, Hertfordshire AL4 9TT
VOLUNTEER SUPERVISING ASSISTANTS The Road Show manager travels with the vehicles, sets up all the equipment ready to run, but needs three assistants during each school session, one per compartment (except the 3D theatre). TASKS The task of these volunteers is very simple: to arrive 10 minutes before each session starts, to greet the children on arrival, to show them where to sit, to give them brief instructions (provided) on what to do, and to watch over their group (maximum 8 pupils) during each 20-minute presentation. If there’s an equipment failure, the road show manager can be called over the intercom system. If a problem arises with a child, the class teacher is responsible. Each small group of pupils (aged 8-11) is usually accompanied by an adult from the visiting school. TRAINING Arranged locally, training sessions lasting about an hour are usually conducted a day or two before schools visit start. During training, volunteers will decide which compartment they prefer to supervise, and will preview the presentation in that compartment. Computer-literacy is not vital. DRESS CODE Pupils respond best if volunteers are dressed in a similar fashion to teachers from their school, neither too casual nor over formal. INSTRUCTIONS FOR PUPILS Separate notes are provided below for those supervising in one of the three compartment:
